The power of love
(Poet's title: Amors Zauber)
Set by Schubert:
D Anh. I, 20
for trio or quartet
fragment[1815-1816]
Wo Amors Flügel weben,
Ist nie die Schöpfung tod.
Der Wildnis gibt er Leben,
Der Sturmnacht Morgenrot.
Im Ozean entfalten
Geklippe, nackt und stumm,
Wenn seine Zauber walten,
Sich zum Elysium!
Wherever Amor’s wings are beating
Is never dead to creation.
He gives life to the desert
And dawn after a stormy night.
In the ocean reefs open up,
Naked and silent,
When his magic prevails,
Leading to Elysium!
